When you realize you're old af: A love story
When you realize you’re old af: A love story
So this post is actually coming in a little late but the message is forever relevant. For Stefan’s birthday I bought us two tickets to go see one of his favorite bands, Bahamas. The concert was this past month and let me just tell you we had SO MUCH FUN.
Now I know that sounds great and all but what’s the big deal, right? Well, being baby free and going on a date with your husband to get drinks and going to dinner is so basic and boring. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy to do it, but when is the last time you did something out of the norm for date night?
I’m telling you go see a concert and you’ll definitely feel like having sex after, not just him, you...cause let’s be real they’re always down. I don’t know if it was the music or the shot of Fireball we took ( when we pretended to nervously both agree that was a good idea) or what, but I feel like it reignited the excitement that can sometimes be momentarily lost when a baby comes along.
Plus going to a concert usually means getting dressed up more than you would for Target which leads to me realizing I'm old af. Can we briefly talk about bodysuits or leotards for a min..? I have lots of OOTD envy when I see Khloe Kardashian wearing a bodysuit with a pair of jeans and and a heel, but the reality of wearing a bodysuit is not so hot.
But I bought one anyway because I thought “god dammit I am going to pull out all the stops tonight”. I may be a mom but I feel like I’m a cool mom, ya know. So about 20 minutes into our date I realized I was all set with feeling like I was wearing a thong backwards. I’ve given birth, there’s no need to ever make your vagina that uncomfortable voluntary, k.
Despite the wardrobe snafu we managed to have a good time and it was nice to be in a place full of other adults.
Doing something out of the ordinary almost allowed us to be our former selves, the two people we were when we met. If you have a child then you know what I mean by this.
The days of hot and heavy take a backseat to the days of diaper changes and rock paper scissors for who gets to sleep in for 30 minutes.
It’s important to nurture that marriage just like you nurture that child because that is the glue that holds the family unit together.
Obviously that is not to say that you can’t do it alone, I was raised by a strong independent single mom, but if you are married take time to date again.
I know it sounds cliche but it’s so true!!
Here’s to lots of sex and minimal Fireball in your future!
What are some fun dates that you have been on with your spouse that didn’t involve just dinner???
